what just happen?

// September 14th, 2009 // Uncategorized

I held on for dear life as many days as I could in the Tour of Missouri, only to have the load be to great on the final day.  I had no idea how I would fair coming in to this huge race as my training was a little limited by an angry intercostal separation or two.  This race was NO joke and coming in to it with sub par training and health is not the way one should start a 2.HC stage race.  As I clung to life each day it was very apparent that I would no be seeing much of the real race, but more so staring desperately towards the front of the race praying for them to slow down.
I wish I could have performed better, but I could have wished for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and had a better chance of getting what I wanted.

Thank God I survived…sort of.

    That looked like a tough race. Be proud that you were able to survive! What stage 6 average speed was 32mph or something. Thats crazy.

    I once wished for a pot of gold. I instead wasted $1 on the stupid scratch off.
    Come do some cross and mtb races with me this winter. I will toughen you up. Seriously I still would like to train with you for a few days this winter if you come back to the Midwest. I love riding new roads.
    intercostal separation huh?
    Hey look up. You still hung with some of the best riders in the world… sort of

    Brad, I think you did great! Considering the injuries from Downers, I’m thrilled you made it to Sunday!! And Sat you were in front pulling for awhile! No small task. Just trying to keep up with the race became a challenge for the fans!!!

    Loved seeing you all week Brad! And I agree with those above. We need to see you racing some Cross, not just looking hot as a fan cheering on friends! :-)

    Hope you heal up and get to feeling good again soon. Are you headed to China(?) with the guys next or are you done for the season?

    Brad,

    It was great seeing you again at the start of Stage 3 of the TOM! Thanks for signing Steven’s jersey! I know this was an extremely hard race, and you were not in the form you wanted to be in, but you still pushed yourself to the absolute limit, and we’re proud of you!

    Get some rest, and start looking forward to the next race. We’ll be following your progress, and rooting for you, albeit from a distance, at every race!

    Dan and Steven

    Thanks for taking the time out to chat with me (the Mavic guy you remembered from a training ride 10 years ago – great memory).
