Good bye China
// July 23rd, 2008 // Uncategorized
now I know what some of the older handicape horse races were like, as we race well above the logical altitude for athletic performance. for 10 days we were above 7000 feet elevation, 3 days in a row well above 10,000 feet, several mountain passes around and over 12,000 feet, and several several KM’s suffering.
I did not even think I was going to make it to the 3rd day when Jermey Powers and I were totally blown off the back on the first road stage and we had to……really push it to make the time cut for more than 60km…..well we actually got some of the hardest motor pacing I have done in a long time to get back to the small groupetto well off the back. I am already attempting to forget all about the knee suffering elevation gains, hypothermic conditions at times, insane speed at those elevations, french fries/white rice/and snikers bars to survive, and some of the most beautiful views I have seen during a bike race.
Thank God I survived that thing to be able to come home alive and ready for some Mexican food!

Great job Huffinator! You de Man!
Awesome job Brad! So happy to see you’ve made it through! Can’t wait to see you here at races coming up soon!
Sweet.. glad to see Pate has nothing on you from his suffering in France! or maybe it was the same hard out effort… just less rice.
Sounds like a crazy cool trip. We miss you at Superweek….
Huffy, racing in China is different, eh? we checked the results daily and luckily I always saw you in the results somewhere! That should give you a boost for the rest of the season. See you on the road.
Sports Illustrated, July 28, 2008, Beijing 2008 Olympic Previuew-Meet Team USA. Page 91….NICKNAMES: Michael (Meatball) Firedman, cycling has as the name suggests-an un-Lance-like physique.
This is the last thing I read before going to sleep last night, and I swear I was still laughing in my dreams. At first I was like-wow, cycling in SI…Tyler Phinney on page 80 under Sports Roots, then a picture of Sarah Hammer on page 89, and then it was closed out with Michael (Meatball) Friedman.

Well, Brad. I’m so proud that you finished that Tour. And you seemed to keep your diet nice and simple with no unknown factors. Was it Jeremy that even mentioned it on his blog???
I’m anxious to meet Team Jelly Belly in Downer’s this year!!!

Are you going to update this any time soon you SOB? I will not be in Chicago until Monday. I decided to do a Mtb race instead of elk grove this weekend. What can I say? I love dirt and I need points my ranking is skyrocketing. It is actually more like a dud.
